Endeavour Recruitment has an exciting freelance opportunity for a Data Scientist/AI Solution Lead to join a Financial Institution based in Brussels.

Hybrid - Full time, onsite 50% is mandatory.

Applicants must be residing in Belgium.

Maximum all inclusive daily rate: 700 Euro per day.

THE ROLE

Create value through data by developing data platforms, advanced analytics capabilities, artificial intelligence solutions, reporting tools, and data governance practices across the organization.

The Data Tribe is structured around four complementary teams: CoE Analytics & AI, CoE Data Governance, Visualization Solutions and Squad Data Hub.

Within this Tribe, the CoE Analytics & AI leverages company data to produce analyses, predictive models and Data & AI solutions that support business decisions, improve operational efficiency, and create measurable value.

The team is involved across the entire data value creation cycle: understanding business needs, framing use cases, conducting business analyses, developing statistical and artificial intelligence models, measuring impact, supporting business teams in data-driven decision-making, and contributing to the responsible and governed use of data.

In this context, AlphaCredit aims to progressively strengthen its strategy around AI and its use cases, as well as the associated governance, in line with Group standards and regulatory requirements such as the AI Act.

YOUR MISSION

• Within the CoE Analytics & AI team, you act as a senior technical and functional expert, leading advanced Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. Use cases from business scoping through operational deployment and monitoring, while providing hands-on guidance, advice, and coaching to strengthen the team's capabilities.
• Working closely with business, Data, and IT teams, you challenge needs, assess feasibility, and value, and develop or supervise robust and scalable solutions.
• You will also play a key role in defining, structuring, and implementing AlphaCredit's enterprise-wide AI governance framework, ensuring that AI initiatives are identified, assessed, approved, monitored, and managed consistently in terms of value, investment, risk, and regulatory compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead Data Science & AI use cases

• Lead Data Science and AI use cases end to end, from business scoping and value assessment through development, deployment, adoption, and performance monitoring.
• Challenge business needs, assess feasibility, define success criteria, and provide clear recommendations to support prioritization and investment decisions.
• Develop advanced analytics, Machine Learning, and generative AI solutions, or supervise their delivery when other team members or partners are involved.
• Coordinate business, Data, and IT stakeholders, and manage the risks, dependencies, and decisions required to move use cases forward.

Act as the team's senior expert

• Provide hands-on guidance, review the team's work, and coach team members to strengthen their Data Science and AI capabilities.
• Define and promote robust technical practices while advising business teams and management on AI opportunities, limitations, and implementation choices.

Define and implement AI governance

• Lead the definition and implementation of AlphaCredit's enterprise-wide AI governance framework, in line with Group standards, responsible AI principles, and the EU AI Act.
• Establish practical processes to identify and assess AI initiatives, validate implementations, support investment decisions, track expected and realized value, and ensure regulatory compliance across the organization.

YOUR PROFILE

• You hold a university degree in a quantitative or technical field or have equivalent professional experience.
• You have at least 7 years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, or AI, including the end-to-end delivery of solutions from business scoping through production and monitoring.
• You combine strong hands-on expertise in Python, SQL, Machine Learning, and generative AI with a solid understanding of industrialization and MLOps.
• You have acted as a senior technical reference, providing guidance, reviewing work, and coaching less experienced team members.
• You can challenge business needs, assess value and feasibility, and translate complex topics into clear recommendations for business and management audiences.
• You have a good understanding of enterprise-wide AI governance and the ability to help establish a framework to identify, assess, approve, and oversee AI initiatives, investments, value creation, and regulatory compliance across the organization.
• You are comfortable coordinating cross-functional stakeholders and operating in a regulated environment.
• You are fluent in English and in either French or Dutch.
