Are you based in or around Dudley?

We have a Crane Operator position available within Tata steels Round Oak site. This railway freight terminal transports steel products on behalf of Tata steel Europe. The successful applicant will be an individual who doesn't mind working outdoors, can work independently and also thrives in a Heavy Industry environment.

Rate

£13.11ph. With 25% shift allowance, £16.39ph

Contract length

6 months initially with the view to extend

Start

ASAP, but pending the successful completion of a medical, which does include a drug and alcohol test

Responsibilities
  • Safely operate heavy industrial cranes to load, unload, and maneuver steel products across the rail freight terminal
  • Assist with the movement and positioning of steel cargo to and from rail wagons and logistics vehicles
  • Adhere strictly to Tata Steel site health and safety protocols, following operational guidelines at all times
  • Perform daily checks on crane machinery and lifting tackle
  • report any defects or safety hazards immediately
  • Carry out manual handling duties and material movement outdoors across all weather conditions
  • Work independently on assigned tasks while coordinating effectively with the wider rail freight team to keep operations running smoothly
Essential requirements
  • Comfortable working outdoors in a heavy industrial, fast-paced environment
  • Highly safety-conscious with good knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation
  • Willingness to learn-no direct crane experience required, as full training will be provided
  • (Due to the nature of the environment and shifts) Access to own vehicle and UK Driving Licence
  • Good level of verbal and written communication skill
  • Good level of IT literacy skill
