The RoleVision for Education are recruiting Cover Supervisors to work with secondary schools across Gloucester and the surrounding areas.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to gain experience in a school environment. You do not need to be a qualified teacher, as you will be provided with the work and resources needed for each lesson.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will take responsibility for classes when the usual teacher is unavailable. You will make sure students understand the work they have been set, keep the classroom focused and deal with any behaviour issues in line with the school's expectations.
The role would suit experienced Cover Supervisors, Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, graduates and people with backgrounds in youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, childcare or other roles working with young people.
What you'll be doing- Supervising classes across a range of secondary subjects
- Following work and lesson plans left by the class teacher
- Making sure students remain focused and complete their work
- Supporting pupils with questions and classroom tasks
- Managing behaviour and maintaining a positive classroom environment
- Taking the class register
- Reporting any issues or concerns to the appropriate member of staff
- Providing feedback to the school after lessons
- Working as part of the wider school team
To work as a Cover Supervisor, you will need:
- Experience working with children or young people
- Confidence managing a group of secondary-aged students
- A calm, professional and approachable manner
- Strong communication skills
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils
- Good organisation and reliability
- An Enhanced DBS, or willingness to apply for one
