Job Description
About the Role

Experienced Consultant Social Worker (Countywide) - permanent, full-time in Family Help Teams in Rugby, Warwick, Stratford, Nuneaton, Bedworth and North Warwickshire. Specialising in child protection and court work. The post involves directing and overseeing case work for less experienced social workers and family practitioners, ensuring all court preparation is clear, relevant, specific and timely. Each Consultant will also hold allocated families to work with.

Key responsibilities include liaising with legal services, offering support and challenge to build confidence in less experienced practitioners to ensure the best outcomes for children, young people and families.

Salary up to £53,769.00 per annum, including a £3,500 pro-rated annual market supplement (subject to pension, tax and NI deductions). Relocation allowance up to £8,000 may be available if policy criteria are met.

Key Requirements
  • Professional Social Work qualification and Social Work England Registration.
  • Previous experience of court preparation and child protection.
  • Driving is a requirement of the role.
  • Occasional working outside core hours to deal with emergent issues (e.g., emergency court applications).

About the Team

District-based Family Help Teams work with families across a spectrum of needs: Family Help Assessment, Targeted Early Support, Children in Need, those on the Edge of Care or Child Protection, Court, and children in care until a permanency plan is in place. The teams are multi-agency, including Family Support Workers, Family Practitioners, Social Workers, Systemic Consultants, Police Community Support Officers, and NHS Nurses, all working to meet holistic family needs and reduce risk.

Warwickshire is embedding Families First teams to support young people. The approach emphasises locality working, multi-disciplinary and multi-agency collaboration to support the whole family, with partnerships across Health, Police and Education.
