Consultant Palliative Medicine
Posted 3 hours 27 minutes ago by NHS National Services Scotland
We are looking for an additional Consultant in Palliative Medicine to join our team and deliver Specialist Palliative Care (SPC) across Lanarkshire. The role involves working within an innovative 'Hub' model, collaborating across the three acute University Hospitals and their surrounding communities to provide flexible care across acute and community settings. You will help proactively reduce unnecessary admissions, manage symptoms effectively, and facilitate future care planning for patients.
The post is offered on a less than full time, 8.5 PA basis. Supplementary SPA time may be requested for activities such as quality improvement, patient safety, medical education, research, and appraisal work. The Additional SPA time will be considered in line with the successful candidate's professional and service requirements.
An integral part of the team is the 1:9 on call rota covering all NHS Lanarkshire SPC services out of hours, including hospice beds. You will also be expected to support the busy SPC Advice and Triage line, which provides remote advice to primary and secondary care colleagues and manages hospice admission requests.
Qualifications and ExperienceApplicants with sub specialty clinical, educational, or research interests may discuss how their profile best fits a particular Hub. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety (including human factors training), medical education, or research will be considered favorably.
Additional InformationThose involved in teaching, research, or scholarship within the University of Glasgow may be eligible for honorary status, which includes access to a University ID card, library and IT services, and educational discounts on PC equipment.
We are committed to recruiting a workforce that reflects the diverse makeup of society. We consider applications from individuals regardless of race, disability, gender, sexual orientation, care experience, or any other dimension that differentiates people. All prospective employees must hold permission to work in the United Kingdom, and we will verify this entitlement for all candidates.
