Consultant Clinical Scientist (Equipment & Dosimetry) Band 8B, Full Time, Permanent
A vacancy has become available for a clinical scientist to join our small, but very busy department supporting specialist cancer services to the Highlands & Islands of Scotland. The department is equipped with two Varian Truebeam Linear Accelerators and a Siemens Somatom Confidence RT Pro CT Scanner. We also have access to both MRI and PET-CT. The RayStation Treatment Planning system is in use with the RayCare Oncology Management System currently being rolled out. The department uses surface guided radiotherapy (AlignRT) and transit dosimetry (Radcalc EPID) routinely.
The postholder will lead the Equipment and Dosimetry section and manage a small team of scientists and technologists providing this service for the Department of Clinical Oncology. Although predominantly covering Equipment and Dosimetry, a small department working environment requires providing cover across the wider physics team. Undertaking project work and developing specific areas of interest is encouraged and supported.
Inverness is the capital city of the Highlands and offers a high standard of living in an area of outstanding wildlife and natural beauty, providing an ideal base for pursuing many outdoor activities within the Highlands and Islands area.
Informal enquiries and visits to the Department are welcome. Please contact Steve Colligan, Head of Radiotherapy Physics (Tel: ; email ).
