Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Consultant Paediatrician with an interest in Child Mental Health

We are excited to advertise for a Consultant General Paediatrician with an interest in Child Mental Health to join our General Paediatric Team at RMCH. The post will include acute General Paediatric Duties and 2 PA's providing General Paediatric support to Manchester, Salford and Trafford CAMHS and The MFT Community Eating Disorders Service. The successful applicant will be one of 2 General Paediatricians with a special interest in Child Mental Health within a thriving General Paediatrics Department.

Main duties of the job

The post will be for 10 PA's per week with 8.5 PA's Direct Clinical Care and 1.5 PA's Supporting Professional Activities consistent with other consultants within the trust. The exact detail of the job plan will be finalised with the successful candidate.

Qualifications and experience
  • MBChB or equivalent
  • Completion of higher specialist training in paediatric medicine with relevant experience/qualifications in managing paediatrics. Must be on the specialist register or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT or equivalent at the time of interview.
  • Clinical experience, interest and enthusiasm in looking after Children and Young People with Mental Health Problems
  • Experience of teaching medical students
  • Experience of teaching junior medical staff
  • MD, PhD or other higher degree
  • Experience of Audit
  • Publications in peer reviewed journals or demonstrable commitment to developing research in the Trust
  • Research interests relating to paediatrics
  • Significant Experience or special interest (SPIN) training in managing paediatric mental health
