Consultant in Rehab Medicine: Major Trauma & Community Neurorehab

We are pleased to advertise this 10 PA post focused on supporting the major trauma network, prosthetic service, intrathecal baclofen pump service and community neuro rehab. Future opportunities to work in inpatient wards (neuro rehab, stroke rehab and spinal pathway) as well as teaching roles and leadership in developing these services are envisaged.
Responsibilities include: involvement in the acute hospital major trauma team and prosthetics service; providing professional support for rehabilitation medicine with a 7.5/2.5 DCC:SPA ratio; on call service; participation in medical education and existing rehab medicine services (out patients, spasticity etc.); working with community physicians and other multidisciplinary teams; and contributing to networks of physicians and surgeons working with a shared client group.
- Full registration with GMC and licence to practice.
- MRCP (UK) or equivalent.
- Eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register in Rehabilitation Medicine at the time of taking up the post (specialist registrars applying in advance must be within six months of CCT).
- Higher academic qualifications in rehabilitation medicine.
- Qualifications in teaching and learning.
- Training and wide experience in rehabilitation medicine.
- Secure background general medical experience and competency for on call emergencies at senior level.
- Experience working with managers to improve patient experience and service delivery.
- Experience in clinical audit, understanding of clinical research, and teaching principles for undergraduate, postgraduate and interdisciplinary learners.
- Proven ability to motivate, support and work within a multi disciplinary team.
- High professional and ethical standards, excellent written and verbal communication skills, commitment to continuous professional development, basic computer/IT skills.
- Ability to manage limb spasticity with botulinum toxin injections and a special interest or advanced experience in prosthetics and major trauma.
- Knowledge and understanding of the NHS; evidence of service development and enacting change; ability to lead clinical services; relevant published papers in peer reviewed journals; experience in teaching, particularly at a multi professional level and of undergraduates; proven ability to organise and prioritise workload, delegating as appropriate and supervising staff; willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities; ability to balance competing pressures.
