Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Consultant Anaesthetist working across the trust at Wansbeck General Hospital, North Tyneside General Hospital, Hexham General Hospital and Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital on a full-time basis.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be joining a RCoA ACSA accredited anaesthetic department to complement the team of 44 consultants. The post is a general post so development of further specific interests will be accommodated subject to service requirements. A multi-disciplinary team approach to service provision is fundamental throughout the Trust. Person Specification Qualifications

• Fully registered on the UK General Medical Council's Specialist Register or Specialist Registrars may apply if within 6 months of CCT at date of application
• FRCA (Fellow Royal College of Anaesthetists) or equivalent
• Full GMC Registration
• High standard and broad base of clinical skill and expertise in Anaesthesia
• APLS
• ATLS
• Inter-hospital transfer training
• Clinical training and experience in the relevant specialty, equivalent to that required to gain entry to the UK Certificate of Completed Training (CCT) in Anaesthesia
• Clinical Governance
• Expertise in sub specialty where specified (e.g. Pre-assessment, Regional Anaesthesia, Obstetrics, Acute Pain)
• Experience of, and commitment to, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff.
• Experience of audit management
• Experience of teaching basic clinical skills to undergraduates
