Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Consultant Anaesthetist working across the trust at Wansbeck General Hospital, North Tyneside General Hospital, Hexham General Hospital and Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital on a full-time basis.

Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will be joining a RCoA ACSA accredited anaesthetic department to complement the team of 44 consultants. The post is a general post so development of further specific interests will be accommodated subject to service requirements. A multi-disciplinary team approach to service provision is fundamental throughout the Trust. This is an opportunity to join an organisation rated as 'Outstanding' at the CQC visit in 2016 and one in which clinicians are at the forefront of management.

Person Specification Qualifications- Fully registered on the UK General Medical Council's Specialist Register or Specialist Registrars may apply if within 6 months of CCT at date of application
- FRCA (Fellow Royal College of Anaesthetists) or equivalent
- Full GMC Registration
- High standard and broad base of clinical skill and expertise in Anaesthesia
- APLS
- ATLS
- Inter-hospital transfer training
- Clinical training and experience in the relevant specialty, equivalent to that required to gain entry to the UK Certificate of Completed Training (CCT) in Anaesthesia
- Clinical Governance
- Expertise in sub specialty where specified (e.g. Pre-assessment, Regional Anaesthesia, Obstetrics, Acute Pain)
- Experience of, and commitment to, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff.
- Experience of audit management
- Experience of teaching basic clinical skills to undergraduates
