Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care is entering an exciting period of clinical workforce expansion across all grades and roles. This new post aims to join the existing Gastroenterology Consultants with a specific remit to further transform and extend Gastroenterology services in the region.

We are seeking a dynamic, creative, and motivated Consultant to join our friendly, progressive team. The successful candidate will work alongside an established team of 4 consultants in our JAG-accredited Endoscopy unit outpatient clinics and will also have inpatient responsibilities on our dedicated gastroenterology ward.

This position provides additional capacity for our expanding service. Applicants should have undergone specialist training in Gastroenterology medicine and possess a strong desire to deliver exemplary patient-centered care. As a forward-thinking trust, we continually strive to deliver clinical excellence to our patients.

Main duties of the job

A full-time Consultant Gastroenterologist is required to meet the growing demand for Gastroenterology services at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, based at the hospital site.

Job responsibilities

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Medical Degree, MRCP (UK)
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council
  • On the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT in Medicine and Gastroenterology
  • Advanced Life Support (Adult & Paediatric) and Advanced Trauma Life Support certification
  • Substantial postgraduate experience, including higher medical training, as a Specialist Registrar or equivalent
  • JAG accreditation
Knowledge & Experience
  • Major incident management training
  • Research and audit experience
  • Broad experience in cardiology
Skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to prioritize workload
  • IT proficiency
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
