Job Description

A leading international law firm is seeking a Conflicts Analyst to join their Risk and Compliance division in London or Glasgow, with flexible hybrid or remote working options available. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a highly skilled team dedicated to upholding the highest standards of ethical practice and regulatory compliance across a global network.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and clear medium complexity conflict checks by managing legal and commercial issues across the global network, ensuring alignment with strategic policies.
  • Take ownership of conflict checks throughout the entire process, from initial review through to matter record creation, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Provide clear and concise escalations to Team Leaders and Senior Managers when required, facilitating effective resolution of potential conflicts.
  • Collaborate closely with the Client Terms Team to analyse engagement terms and offer input on bespoke conflict terms from both commercial and strategic perspectives.
  • Identify sanctions-related issues promptly and escalate them as necessary to the Financial Crime Team for further investigation.
  • Adhere strictly to internal compliance policies and procedures, maintaining high standards of professionalism at all times.
  • Utilise global conflicts systems and new matter opening platforms to review, analyse, and manage data efficiently.
  • Lead discussions with lawyers and partners to ascertain the presence of legal, commercial or confidential information conflicts, proposing practical resolutions even in complex scenarios.
  • Ensure internal conflict flags are consistently updated and relevant to ongoing matters within the business.

What you'll bring:

  • Educated to bachelor's degree level (preferably law) or equivalent experience demonstrating strong academic foundations.
  • Relevant professional qualification is desirable but not mandatory; experience in conflicts analysis within an international law firm or professional/financial services environment is highly valued.
  • Experience using Elite/3E, Intapp Open or similar systems supports effective management of conflict checks and matter records.
  • Knowledge of SRA Standards & Regulation, Law Society rules (Scotland/Ireland), DIFC requirements allows you to provide accurate guidance on regulatory matters.
  • Ability to recognise when jurisdictional conflicts rules apply (e.g., US conflict rules) ensures comprehensive compliance coverage.
  • Competence in analysing medium to high difficulty legal issues enables production of reasoned opinions on regulatory challenges.
