Compliance Manager

We are looking for an experienced Compliance Manager to take ownership of compliance across Buymie, with a particular focus on our gig-economy operating model and independent contractor workforce.

You will ensure the business has the right processes, controls and documentation to support a compliant contractor model while working closely with Operations, HR, Legal, Data Privacy and Product.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the compliance framework for Buymie's independent contractor model.

• Monitor Irish and EU legislation and case law affecting platform workers and the gig economy.

• Review contractor arrangements against Irish employment-status requirements, including the Karshan judgment.

• Audit contractor onboarding, working arrangements, communications and operational practices.

• Oversee right-to-work checks, identity verification, insurance and contractor documentation.

• Identify and address worker-classification risks relating to control, substitution and performance management.

• Lead internal audits, maintain a compliance risk register and track actions through to completion.

• Prepare the business for engagement with the WRC, Revenue, the Department of Social Protection and other relevant authorities.

• Ensure appropriate food-safety procedures are in place for the handling and delivery of groceries.

• Work with internal teams to introduce practical controls and provide regular updates to senior management.

Your profile

• At least five years' experience in compliance, audit, risk, legal, HR or platform operations.

• Experience working with independent contractors, platform workers or flexible workforce models.

• Strong understanding of the Irish regulatory environment and employment-status requirements.

• Experience conducting audits, investigations and risk assessments.

• Confident working with senior stakeholders and challenging existing processes.

• Practical, organised and comfortable building a compliance framework in a fast-moving business.
