COLLATERAL AND MARGIN ASSOCIATE
We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Collateral and Margin professional to join a globally recognised financial institution in London. This role sits within a large, supportive Global Market Operations team that underpins the success of Financial Markets, Trade Finance, and Treasury businesses worldwide. You will be part of a collaborative environment where your expertise in collateral management and margining will directly contribute to the smooth functioning of global OTC derivatives operations. What you'll do- Perform daily margining activities for counterparties across the group, ensuring all calculations and settlements are accurate and timely.
- Monitor counterparty exposures closely and manage collateral movements to ensure compliance with both internal policies and external regulations.
- Oversee portfolio reconciliations under various regulatory regimes such as Dodd-Frank (DF) and EMIR, maintaining up-to-date records and resolving discrepancies efficiently.
- Contribute to the preparation of comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly statistics that inform business decisions and operational improvements.
- Collaborate with different business units and operational teams to identify new opportunities for process enhancement or service expansion.
- Support the rollout of new regulatory requirements including Initial Margin (IM), Segregated Variation Margin (Seg VM), and MarginSphere initiatives.
- Stay informed about evolving market practices within collateral management to ensure best-in-class service delivery.
- Maintain robust controls over daily reconciliations by following up on exceptions promptly, escalating issues when necessary, and ensuring thorough audit trails are kept at all times.
- Represent the team in project meetings, sharing insights and helping drive forward key initiatives that align with strategic objectives.
- At least 2+ years of experience working in collateral management roles with direct exposure to OTC and repo products.
- A broad understanding of operational functions within financial services environments is required to navigate diverse streams effectively.
- Demonstrable knowledge of financial markets products and associated risk factors is vital for making informed decisions.
- Excellent analytical skills paired with clear communication abilities enable you to interpret data accurately and share findings constructively within teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, as well as general database systems is necessary for handling complex datasets efficiently.
- Meticulous attention to detail ensures accuracy in all aspects of margining, reconciliation, and reporting tasks undertaken.
- A collaborative approach makes you a valued team member who contributes positively towards shared goals.
- A bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline provides a solid academic foundation for this role.
