Job overviewWe are looking for a motivated, forward thinking full time clinical pharmacist with broad clinical knowledge and excellent communication skills to work within the mental health teams across Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.
The position is suitable for pharmacists wanting to move sector or from any clinical background. It is an excellent opportunity to start or continue a career in mental health, based at Woodlands Unit in Ipswich with possible visits to Wedgwood House, Bury St Edmunds, and travel reimbursement available.
This is a patient facing full time role. The post holder will collaborate with other healthcare team members to provide ward based clinical pharmacy services alongside a team of medicines management technicians. A flexible approach and strong teamwork ethic are required.
There are no dispensary or on call commitments. Mental health experience is desirable but not essential; the post holder will receive support to complete an in house training programme and undertake further accreditations as appropriate.
Note: This is a fixed term for one year to cover a secondment.
Main duties of the job- Deliver comprehensive clinical pharmacy services to inpatient wards in line with Trust and departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
- Build strong clinical relationships with patients, carers, and healthcare professionals in the in patient settings.
- Support patients, prescribers, and other healthcare professionals through attendance at multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and one to one or group patient consultations, engage in discharge planning with the MDT, and lead medicines optimisation and quality improvement programmes within the clinical setting.
- Train, supervise, coach and mentor other members of the pharmacy team.
- Advise, prepare, and deliver training for clinical staff (e.g., nurses, support workers, doctors) on a range of medicines related issues.
- Support the Principal Pharmacist in communicating relevant Trust decisions and policies relating to medicines to local clinical areas.
- Receive support for continuing professional development through regular management, clinical and peer group supervision and education sessions within the Pharmacy department and externally where practicable.
This role will be part of a team delivering a high quality, patient focused clinical pharmacy service to:
- Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment
- Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit
- Pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (includes Master's Degree in pharmacy or equivalent, one year pre registration training and final examination).
- Postgraduate qualification in mental health therapeutics or equivalent Member of the College of Mental Health Pharmacists.
- Minimum 1 year qualified.
- Word processing and IT skills.
- Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
- Working knowledge of mental health therapeutics.
