Clinical Nurse Specialist - Fracture Liaison Service

The post holder will lead the delivery of a high quality Fracture Liaison Service within Orthopaedics, providing specialist assessment, advice and coordinated care for patients at risk of or diagnosed with osteoporosis, falls and fractures. Working as part of the multidisciplinary team, the role ensures timely, seamless care in line with national guidelines, promotes bone health awareness and supports fracture prevention. As a new service, the post holder will contribute to developing policies, pathways and processes, and promote excellence in nursing practice through clinical leadership, education, audit and service development.

Main duties of the job

Deliver and develop a specialist Fracture Liaison/Osteoporosis nursing service, providing expert assessment and coordinated MDT care in line with national guidelines. Lead service development for this new role, promote bone health and fracture prevention, and support education, audit and quality improvement across the Trust.

Person Specification Education / Qualifications
  • NMC Level 1 Registration and Mentorship qualification
  • Post registration qualification in specialist area of clinical practice
Experience
  • Relevant experience in Trauma and Orthopaedics or Rheumatology
  • Experience in a Band 6 role, including caseload management
  • Ability and willingness to contribute to service development, e.g. developing guideline, policies, primary care services
Skills / Abilities
  • Ability to organise, plan and prioritise workload to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an MDT
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of research processes, with the ability to contribute to and participate in research undertaken within the team/Trust as appropriate
  • Understanding of current issues, policies and frameworks affecting primary care
