Jesus College, Cambridge seeks to appoint a full-time Chaplain to take up the post from 1 September 2026. The Chaplain plays a key role in the liturgical ministry and management of the College Chapel, and in pastoral care and faith provision across the College community, under the direction of the Dean of Chapel and supporting the wider Chapel and Choir staff and volunteer team.
The Chaplain will be an ordained priest in good standing with the Church of England (or other church in full communion with the Church of England). The postholder will bring:
- experience and competence in leading dignified worship in the Anglican choral tradition, supporting the ministry of the College's choirs and the participation and formation of College members;
- a visible and approachable presence to the whole College community, particularly focused on staff and postgraduates, fostering a sense of belonging and trust.
- a thoughtful and sensitive approach to communicating the Christian faith intelligently, especially to those with little prior experience.
- a sensitive and professional approach to pastoral care and welfare support, to those of any faith and none.
- excellent organisational skills and computer literacy to ensure good administration of Chapel activities and services.
The post is to be offered for a fixed term of 3 years in the first instance, remunerated at the stipendiary rate for incumbents in the Diocese of Ely (currently £34,950). In lieu of accommodation, an annual housing allowance will be provided (currently £11,000). Although the Chaplain is not a Fellow of the College, they are allocated senior staff dining rights on High Table.
