To work as part of a team to provide a service of food to Bridgnorth Community Hospital.

Working in accordance with the work schedule as required.

To produce a high level of quality in the preparation of meals.

Main duties of the job
  • Ensuring a good standard of quality control during preparations, cooking and dispatch of food, including documentation in accordance with a safe food system.
  • Serving meals and managing cash for dining room till when necessary.
  • Practising good hygiene in all aspects of the catering department and maintaining personal hygiene standards.
  • Assisting with washing/drying during lunch time.
  • Cleaning and defrosting freezers/fridges regularly.
  • Completing food orders when required.
  • Assisting with ward stores order.
  • Inducting and training new catering staff and documenting all training.
  • Taking receipt of goods and putting them away in appropriate areas.
  • Accepting and checking delivery of goods as necessary.
  • Handling money and filling in the appropriate form.
  • Attending training courses and meetings when required.
Trainning and Qualifications
  • City and Guilds 706 1 and 2 or equivalent substantial experience.
  • Literacy and numeracy standard to level 1 or equivalent.
Experience
  • Substantial experience of cooking in a commercial setting, including planning meals and menus, catering for special diets and allergies, preparing food using commercial kitchen equipment, storing food correctly, and supervisory skills.
Knowlegde and Skills
  • General awareness of safety in the workplace and ability to follow instructions and prioritise workload.
  • Good communicational skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff.
  • Good organisational skills.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people and is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020. Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service will be required to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Salary: £25,272 per annum / pro rata
Closing: 02/06/:00
Hours: 15 hours per week (Including evening and weekends)
Contract: Permanent
