Business Analyst Payments (Perm or Freelance)

One of our clients in the private banking sector is looking for a Business Analyst with experience in Payments.

Responsibilities:

• Gather, analyze, and document business requirements for payment processing systems, projects, and enhancements
• Map and review end-to-end payment workflows (SEPA, SWIFT, instant payments, direct debits, etc.)
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, and IT teams to translate business needs into functional specifications
• Support solution design by validating business requirements and ensuring alignment with system capabilities
• Conduct impact assessments for new initiatives, regulatory changes, or system upgrades
• Coordinate and execute functional and user acceptance testing (UAT) with relevant teams
• Monitor project deliverables and timelines, escalating risks and issues where needed
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, such as ISO 20022, PSD2, and AML regulations
• Assist in training and knowledge transfer to end users and operational teams
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in payment operations and systems

Profile:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Business, IT, or a related field
• Minimum 4-6 years of experience as a Business Analyst in the banking or payments domain
• Strong understanding of payment instruments and flows (SEPA, SWIFT, instant payments, cards, etc.)
• Familiarity with ISO 20022, PSD2, AML/KYC compliance, and related regulatory frameworks
• Experience working in agile and/or waterfall project environments
• Proficient in creating functional specifications, process flows, and test cases
• Strong communication skills and ability to interface with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Fluent in English and (French or Dutch)
