Job Description
Job Overview

Autonomic Clinical Research Fellow - 3 year full time contract (36 months ending 30 June 2029).

Site: National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery, London

Salary: £67,325 per annum plus London weighting. Closing date: 30 June :59.

Main Duties
  • Support the nationally and internationally recognised Autonomic Unit based at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
  • Collaborate with clinicians to ensure the clinical service is underpinned by a strong investigation and evidence base.
  • Develop, implement and interpret diagnostic tests for central and peripheral autonomic function.
  • Lead the delivery of autonomic assessment, rehabilitation and immunotherapy for severe autonomic failure such as autoimmune autonomic ganglionopathy.
  • Provide specialist assessment and treatment within the autonomic adolescent service and for postganglionic sudomotor dysfunction.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to manage patients with autonomic diseases, including communicating with GPs and clinicians.
Person Specification Knowledge and Qualifications
  • UK GMC registration.
  • CCT in Neurology or in the final year of training (CCT). Equivalent overseas training considered.
  • Full GMC registration or eligibility for full GMC registration by interview date.
  • Additional qualification such as PhD, MRCP or equivalent.
Clinical Experience
  • Experience managing patients with autonomic diseases.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary team meetings and understanding the different roles.
  • Understanding of the needs of people with complex conditions and learning disability.
  • Knowledge of patient centred care and self care approach.
Clinical Skills and Abilities
  • Management of associated comorbidities and multisystem disorders.
  • Commitment to providing an efficient and effective service.
  • Experience interpreting autonomic cardiovascular and sudomotor testing.
