Role Overview

Amber Labs Consultancy is seeking a skilled Automation Test Engineer to support a major public sector client on a 12-month fixed term contract. You will join a multidisciplinary, agile delivery team working with a public sector client.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong experience in automation testing, with hands-on use of modern frameworks and tools.
• Experience designing, implementing, and executing automated tests across APIs, UI, and integration layers.
• A solid understanding of shift-left testing principles, including CI/CD pipelines and embedding quality early in the development lifecycle.
• Awareness of non-functional testing, including:
• Performance
• Security
• Accessibility
• Ability to contribute to shared engineering standards, including test strategy, tool selection, and best practices.
• Strong communication skills, with experience collaborating in agile, multi-disciplinary teams.
• Experience with version control, code reviews, and collaborative engineering practices.

Desirable (Nice-to-Have) Skills

• Experience with cloud-based environments (AWS, Azure, or similar).
• Exposure to containerisation or infrastructure-as-code.
• Familiarity with monitoring, observability, and operational testing concepts.
