Job RoleWe are seeking a committed and proactive Attendance & Pastoral Support Officer to support our Adult & Community Learning team at Middlesbrough College. This vital role focuses on learner engagement, attendance and punctuality improvement, and removing barriers to learning through targeted pastoral interventions. The Officer will combine strong administrative skills with a student centred approach, working closely with teaching staff, support teams, learners, and parents/carers to promote positive outcomes and learner wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities- Provide accurate and timely administrative support across the department.
- Maintain learner records, including enrolments, transfers, withdrawals, and completions.
- Manage departmental databases, electronic systems, and filing processes.
- Monitor attendance data and implement strategies to improve learner engagement.
- Contact students and parents/carers following absences and maintain accurate records.
- Support evidence gathering for exam access arrangements.
- Engage in ongoing professional development, including the use of new technologies.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to the role and level of responsibility.
You will have:
- A minimum Level 3 qualification in Business Administration or a relevant subject.
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
- Experience working in an administrative role within a busy environment.
- Experience supporting young people, including those with additional needs.
- Strong organisational, communication, and IT skills (Microsoft Office essential).
- Knowledge of safeguarding principles and student welfare.
- The ability to manage priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
- Experience in an educational setting.
- Familiarity with systems such as ProSolution or ProMonitor.
- First Aid and Risk Assessment qualifications.
