TfL's Legal Department works closely with the Greater London Authority (GLA), Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime, and other functional bodies to deliver legal advice on matters that affect the lives of millions.

About us

The role provides an excellent opportunity to work on high-profile issues including advising on statutory powers, the drafting of secondary legislation and the regulation of the taxis, private hire vehicles and pedicabs, considering the impact of new legislation on TfL and other organisations in the Greater London Authority group, judicial reviews and road user charging. You will also be expected to prepare and provide briefings and training on the impact of changing legislation, case law and best practice.

What you'll need
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, you'll be a qualified solicitor or barrister having completed pupillage, with a proven track record of advising in both contentious and non-contentious public and regulatory law and matters of governance.
  • You should have experience of handling judicial review litigation and have advised on the exercise of statutory powers.
  • You'll use your good judgment, commercial awareness and innovative problem solving skills to deliver pragmatic solutions and have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to build effective client relationships and have a strong, supportive team ethic will be essential.
