Brief Description
As an assistant signalling and telecoms maintenance engineer you will be involved in Managing and directing the Technical Support Team and Control Centre Technicians to provide production, performance, assurance, technical, analytical, and data quality support to the Maintenance Engineering team. You will also Assist the Signal & Telecoms Maintenance Engineer in the delivery of duties as required.
About the role (External)
The Assistant Signalling and Telecoms Engineer will oversee the Intelligent Infrastructure Technicians (IITs) and Control Centre Technicians (CCTs) within the Central route. This role is crucial in managing the route's asset reliability and performance by leveraging the available intelligent infrastructure. The engineer will utilise a "predict and prevent" capability derived from the installed Remote Condition Monitoring (RCM) systems to ensure optimal functioning and maintenance of the signalling and telecommunications assets within Central
Day to day you can expect to be involved in the following activities:
• Managing and directing the Technical Support team and Control Centre Technicians to achieve business and functional objectives and meet key performance measures.
• Managing the development of individuals and the engagement of the team.
• Managing the arrangements for staff safety and competence.
• Monitoring asset performance, reliability, productivity and efficiency.
• Providing technical guidance and support.
• Undertaking survey and design work.
• Managing the assurance and non compliance process within the delivery unit.
• Undertaking technical inspections and investigations.
• Providing local requirements to arrange track monitoring trains and receive outputs.
• Maintaining the accuracy of systems, databases and records.
• Reviewing and approving method statements and/or plans for design and/or work activities as required.
• Undertaking an agreed programme of staff surveillance, work quality and asset condition checks.
In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to have/to be:
• Relevant technical competence
• Knowledge of maintenance delivery processes and techniques
• Knowledge of safety and compliance management processes
• Knowledge of operational railway environment
• Detailed knowledge of relevant standards and procedures
• Design knowledge and experience
• Failure/incident management and rectification techniques
• Knowledge of other functional disciplines
• IRSE Licence holder (Signalling only)
• Good interpersonal, influencing, communication and organisation skills
• HNC/HND or equivalent qualification
It's not mandatory to have the below, but it would be desirable to have:
• Knowledge of coaching techniques

Salary: starting from £43,588 raising to £ 50,018 per annum. Network Rail adheres to a structured pay framework, any salary offered will be within the pay range advertised.
