Purpose of RoleWe are seeking a proactive and driven Assistant Facilities Manager (Soft Services) to support the delivery of high-quality facilities services across a small local estate of education sites.
Job DescriptionThis is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong cleaning or soft services background to step into a broader facilities role, supervising teams and supporting overall site operations.
Based primarily at Alvaston Moor Academy, you will oversee services across 6 nearby sites (including secondary schools, primary schools, and a children's centre), all located within close proximity.
Responsibilities- Manage and supervise soft services, including cleaning and caretaking operations
- Ensure cleaning standards are consistently high through regular audits and inspections
- Maintain compliance with health & safety regulations and best practice
- Deliver training, coaching and development for team members
- Monitor costs, waste, and resource efficiency
- Support administrative processes, reporting, and documentation
- Work closely with the Senior Facilities Manager to support wider FM activities
- Strong background in cleaning / soft services environments
- Previous team management or supervisory experience
- Knowledge of cleaning standards, audits and compliance
- Good understanding of health & safety practices
- A proactive, hands on approach with a willingness to learn and develop
- Cleaning-related qualifications (e.g. COSHH)
- Basic health & safety knowledge
- Full UK driving licence (required for travel between sites)
- Flexibility to work early mornings or evenings where required (e.g. audits, team supervision)
