We're recruiting Assembly Ushers to join a professional and customer-focused team at Parliament Buildings.
This is a varied role combining customer service, security, administration and operational support. You'll help support the smooth running of the Assembly business while providing a welcoming, professional service to members, staff and visitors.


What you'll be doing


Your duties will include:

    • Providing professional assistance and information to members, staff and visitors.
    • Supporting meetings and Assembly business.
    • Carrying out internal and external security patrols.
    • Conducting people and vehicle searches and operating security equipment.
    • Monitoring car parks and checking incoming mail and goods.
    • Issuing and checking security passes.
    • Responding to incidents and assisting with emergency procedures.
    • Supporting the PSNI and emergency services when required.
    • Collecting and delivering internal mail.
    • Completing administrative tasks using Microsoft Office and Assembly IT systems.
    • Maintaining accurate records and following security and operational procedures.


What we're looking for


You'll need to meet one of the following requirements:
Route 1:

5 GCSEs at grades A-C, including English Language and Maths (or equivalent/higher qualifications); and
At least 2 years' experience in each of:

      • Customer service in a customer-facing/service environment.
      • Professional communication with customers or service users.
      • Teamwork and building positive working relationships.
      • Using Microsoft Office for administrative duties.


ORRoute 2:


At least 4 years' experience in each of the four areas above.We're particularly interested in candidates who have:

    • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
    • A professional and impartial approach.
    • The ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
    • Strong attention to detail and teamwork skills.
    • Confidence working in a security-conscious environment.
    • Good IT and administrative skills.
    • Flexibility to work a range of shifts.


Shift Pattern


The role operates on a rotating three-week cycle and may include:

    • Early: 7:30am-3:30pm
    • Mid: approximately 8:30am/10:00am-4:30pm/6:00pm
    • Late: approximately 12:00pm-8:00pm or 2:30pm-10:30pm


You must be flexible to work Monday-Saturday, additional hours and public holidays where reasonably required. Additional hours may also be required when the Assembly is sitting.


Training & UniformFull training will be provided, including mandatory First Aid, Fire Safety and Fire Evacuation training.A uniform and appropriate protective clothing will be provided. Certain duties will require you to wear a stab-resistant vest weighing approximately 5kg.
