Job Description

This is an exciting new senior leadership opportunity sitting within Family Help Services to lead on the Family Help teams across a locality in the East Riding of Yorkshire. The Family Help Area Manager will provide expert guidance on complex cases, professional supervision and oversight of threshold decisions and safeguarding practices. They will represent the Council at a range of meetings, and will work in an integrated way across family help, social care, schools, the voluntary and community sector, health partners, neighbourhood teams and the police, amongst others. The role is key to ensuring the effective delivery of services to babies, children, young people and families in the East Riding, supporting them to reach their potential. Responsibilities of this role include: 
- Leadership and Management: Developing and leading the Family Help offer and managing a range of teams, bringing professional expertise to complex decision making and case supervision. Oversee the delivery and performance of the Family Help services, providing strategic oversight of threshold decisions, ensuring consistency and compliance with safeguarding principles
- Service Delivery: Overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a range of services, including targeted family support, school and community teams and universal teams, ensuring high quality and cohesive service delivery.
- Partnership Development: Growing strong and effective partnerships across the county, ensuring children, young people and families are kept central to the offer of support and they receive the right support at the right time.
- Resource Management: Managing and developing resources effectively, including staff, budgets and training to deliver high-quality services.
- Social Work degree and experience within the relevant area.
- Substantial experience of working with Children and Families within Targeted Services and Children's Social Care.
- Experience of leading and managing change and transformation, using evidence, innovation and best practice to improve services and outcomes.
- Knowledge and understanding of the changing initiatives and policy landscape locally and nationally relating to high quality Children's Services. A credible leader with strong influencing skills and the ability to operate at a senior level across multi-agency partnerships.
- Able to deliver presentations to large audiences.
- Excellent financial and project management skills, with a track record of delivering outcomes at pace.
- An energetic, creative and experienced leader who can demonstrate tenacity and enthusiasm in making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people.
- A well-developed knowledge of social care practice, Signs of safety and wellbeing and have a working knowledge of restorative practice, social pedagogy and systemic practice.
- An in depth understanding and experience of working with children, young people and their networks, as well as a demonstrable commitment to the values of family involvement, relational approaches and empowerment.
- An innovative and creative manager who is capable of leading and developing a dedicated team to perform at the highest level.
