Apprentice Transport Planning Technician (Level 3) - 2025 intake

Location: Bristol, BS1 4UA Sector: Transport Planning Employment Type: Full time, Permanent

Opportunity for an Apprentice Transport Planning Technician (Level 3) to join our growing team in Bristol, BS1 4UA, in summer/autumn 2025.

Transport planning helps develop the future shape of our towns and cities, considering how transport will link people with places. It encourages sustainable modes of transport to replace car journeys. Working through the planning process and beyond, we communicate complex issues to the public, developers, and politicians to facilitate sustainable development. This is a BTEC Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship. Entry requirements include at least 5 GCSEs at Grades 9-4 (A -C), including English, Mathematics, and Science or equivalents. Upon successful completion and end-point assessment, you will qualify for registration as an Engineering Technician (EngTech) and MCIHT. The apprenticeship duration is typically 24-36 months, delivered as a block release or blended learning, with a mandatory end-point assessment.

What you will be doing
  • Assisting in developing highway and Active Travel Route designs for concept and preliminary stages.
  • Producing AutoCAD drawings.
  • Supporting project administration, including record maintenance.
  • Assisting with data review and analysis, such as traffic flows and collision data.
  • Contributing to problem-solving efforts.
  • Participating in site visits to gather information or observe existing conditions.
  • Collaborating within your team and with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • This role is primarily desk-based, based in our Bristol office, with occasional site visits. Early career colleagues include apprentices and graduates from 2024 and 2025 intakes.
