Job Description

Based in Northwest England, we are a family owned, leading sub-contract manufacturer specialising in high-precision, custom-engineered machined components. With over four decades of experience, we proudly serve clients across the UK and around the world, delivering end-to-end manufacturing solutions built on quality, reliability and innovation.The purpose of this role is to train as a Machine Technician while studying towards a Level 3 Apprenticeship. During this time, you will develop the capability to machine components of varying sizes using CNC machines in accordance with Bryken standards

  • Work safely at all times complying with health and safety legislation, regulations, organisational and environmental requirements.
  • Work effectively in teams - Integrate with the team, support other people, consider implications of your own actions on other people and the business whilst working effectively to get the task completed.
  • Read and interpret engineering data and documentation, engineering drawings and technical data.
  • Plan and prepare sequence for the machining activities. Ensure that the correct tooling, work holding, and materials are used.
  • Set, prove and validate CNC machining equipment settings and programs for the machine tool being used.
  • Machine high-quality complex components using a broad range of processes.
  • Check and inspect materials to be machined to ensure that they conform to quality standards. Identify and report any issues or faults such as incorrect grades, dimensions and thicknesses.
  • Complete machining documentation at all stages of the work activity and perform scheduled daily inspection, machine shut down or safe isolation.
  • Restore the work area and equipment to a safe and reliable condition on completion of the activity.
  • Focus on quality, problem solving and continuous improvement - Follow instructions and guidance, demonstrate attention to detail, follow a logical approach to problem solving and seek opportunities to improve quality, speed and efficiency.

Earn while you learn - this is a work-based level 3 Apprenticeship, that combines classroom learning with work based learning. (block release for the first 6 months and day release thereafter).

You will gain a EAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Machining (Development Knowledge) and Apprenticeship certificate over 42 Months.

Fully funded qualification

You will be paid on a weekly basis, helping you manage your day-to-day living costs

28 days holiday per annum Inclusive of bank holidays

5 x GCSE including English and Maths at Grade 5 or above

Training to be Provided

You will study towards an EAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Machining (Development Knowledge) with all fees paid, whilst gaining valuable work experience in a dynamic engineering environment.

Things to Consider

Monday to Friday 5 days (36 hours per week)8am to 4.15pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to 2.30pm on Friday

Your first 6 months will be fully based at Waterside Training
