Our mission is to accelerate Net Zero energy innovation.
Launched in 2015 by Innovate UK, the Catapult has built a team of more than 250 people, with a range of technical, engineering, consumer, commercial, incubation, digital and policy expertise. They draw on sector-leading test facilities, modelling tools, and data collected from our back catalogue of more than 500 research projects.
We use that 'whole energy' system capability to support innovative companies small and large - to test, trial and scale their new products and services. Our impact comes when those innovators attract new customers, new investment and new grants so they can thrive in the future energy system.
Based in Birmingham, Energy Systems Catapult is part of a network of nine, world leading technology and innovation centres, established by Innovate UK. The Catapult Network fosters collaboration between industry, government, research organisations, academia, and many others to transform great ideas into valuable products and services.
We believe that innovation often stems from connecting different areas and ideas, and that working together in person can be an important enabler for that. We therefore expect people to be in the Birmingham office 40 days/year (roughly one day per week).
Context We're a dynamic team of eight commercial specialists, leading the charge in energy innovation. With a proven track record of delivering high impact bids, we support a diverse range of organisations-from central government and local authorities to network operators and private sector companies. Our expertise spans the full spectrum of energy solutions, helping partners unlock funding, accelerate projects, and shape the future of sustainable infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities Develop and refine prompt libraries and templates from previous high scoring bids and also the latest sector knowledge for bid writing, proposals, case studies, CVs risk registers, and project delivery plans.
Create AI assisted workflows for proposal preparation, literature reviews, market research, and internal knowledge capture.

Integrate AI tools with existing platforms (e.g. Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint).
Establish quality assurance and governance around generative AI use, including confidentiality, IP, and data security.
Identify and prototype new AI use cases that streamline internal processes and improve bid competitiveness.
Document workflows and build a handover toolkit to ensure capability transfer by the end of the contract.

Experience integrating AI with enterprise tools or APIs.
Understanding of structured content and version control in bid or technical writing environments.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a pragmatic approach to delivery.
Ability to train and support non technical users in AI tools.
