About Us
At Pennine Youth Support, we are dedicated to empowering young people aged 16-18+ as they transition towards independent living. Our semi-independent placements in Nelson provide a supportive environment where young individuals can develop essential life skills and prepare for adulthood.
Role Overview
As a Youth Support Worker, you will play a pivotal role in delivering structured key work sessions tailored to the individual needs of our young people. Your support will focus on promoting life skills, fostering independence, and ensuring the safety and well-being of each resident.
Key Responsibilities
Establish and maintain positive relationships with young people, encouraging active participation in both home and community activities.
Support young individuals in developing skills necessary for independent living, including budgeting, cooking, and household management.
Ensure the safeguarding of all residents, promptly addressing and reporting any concerns.
Assist with daily tasks such as attending appointments, educational commitments, and community engagements.
Collaborate effectively with external agencies, including Local Authorities and health/social care professionals.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our services.
Experience & Qualifications
Experience:
Desirable: Minimum of 1 year's experience working with children, adolescents, or in a similar support/care role.
Consideration: Candidates with relevant academic qualifications (e.g., degrees in social work, youth work, psychology) will also be considered.
Note: Voluntary experience in youth settings is valuable and will be taken into account.
Qualifications :
Required: Possession of, or willingness to work towards, a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or an equivalent qualification.
Additional: Training in safeguarding children and young people is required.
Compliance: An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be conducted prior to employment.
Work Conditions
Ability to work independently with individual young people.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including day, night, weekends, and bank holidays.
Willingness to cover additional hours for sickness or holidays and to work across different homes within the area.
Sleeping-in duties may be required.
