Summary
  • The Youth Justice Officer plays a crucial role in shaping the futures of children and young people engaged with early intervention, prevention, or youth justice services. This position involves crafting and executing intervention plans tailored to individuals with complex and challenging needs. The aim is to support young people and their families in reducing offending and re-offending, mitigating criminal exploitation, and managing associated risks. This role is vital for safeguarding the public and enhancing long-term outcomes for the community.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and design, coordinate, implement, monitor, and review intervention plans for children, young people, and their families, including those with complex needs.
  • Operate across diverse environments such as homes, community settings, courts, police stations, and secure facilities.
  • Develop and ensure structured exit strategies for all cases upon closure.
  • Function as a duty officer, managing referrals and providing advice, support, and interventions.
  • Serve as a court and bail duty officer in Youth Court, offering information to the court, prosecuting breaches, and representing the service during weekend and bank holiday courts.
Requirements:
  • Experience, whether paid or voluntary, in working with adolescents.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with young people, families, and professionals.
  • Competence in assessing and motivating young people who present medium to high levels of risk.
Essential Qualifications
  • A relevant professional or degree-level qualification (NVQ Level 4 or equivalent) in fields such as social care, youth justice, criminology, education, or health.
  • Possession of a full UK driving licence and the ability to travel regularly.
Additional Information
  • This is a 3-month contract with a local authority.
  • The pay rate is £35.04 per hour via Umbrella.
  • Bi-weekly payments are made.
  • An enhanced DBS check is required.
  • The position is based at 50 Isledon Road, London, Islington, N7 7LD, United Kingdom.
