About the RoleThe Women's and Girls Together Project is an inspiring initiative in Pembrokeshire, designed to support vulnerable females aged 11 to 21 who may be at risk of exploitation, violence, grooming, or engaging in risk taking behaviours.
At its heart, the service is dedicated to putting children and young people first, working hand in hand with multi disciplinary teams across the county, including Health and Social Services, to provide a truly holistic approach.
Support is delivered in a variety of ways-through group sessions, one to one guidance, and peer mentoring-creating a safe, empowering environment where young women can build resilience, find their voice, and thrive.
How you'll create brighter futuresWe are looking for a motivated Young Person's Practitioner who is committed to delivering these sessions across Pembrokeshire.
You will do this by:
- By working with vulnerable females to better their emotional well being and self belief.
- Supporting them to recognise negative relationships, risk taking behaviour and the consequences of this.
- Working with them to improve the five psychosocial skills.
- Creating accessible and person centred friendly plans and assessments.
- By contributing to the development of the service through a team approach and service evaluation.
- Proven experience supporting children and young people through both one to one and group work, with the ability to engage effectively and build trust.
- Specialist knowledge of safeguarding and protection processes, including child protection, looked after child procedures, confidentiality requirements, and the Sexual Exploitation Risk Assessment Framework.
- Understanding of risk taking behaviours and person centred approaches, with experience in developing and reviewing tailored plans that empower young people.
- Strong teamwork and independence skills, able to collaborate across multi disciplinary services while also working confidently on individual responsibilities.
- Experience of line management of staff.
- Able to work flexibly including evenings.
- Driving license with access to car is essential due to the nature of travel involved with this role (mileage will be paid)
Every child should have a loving home, food, warmth, the chance to grow and learn - the support to cope with life's challenges. But too many children don't. By bringing your passion and unique skills and experience, you'll help us change that where it really matters.
We've been driven by love to take action for children for over 150 years, giving them the protection and practical help they need. A lot's changed since 1869. But what children really need, hasn't. So as long as children need we'll be here.
Diversity, equality and inclusionAt Action for Children, we're committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels respected, valued, and able to thrive. We know that racism and discrimination create barriers, and we're taking active steps to challenge these inequalities in our organization and in the communities we serve.
We strongly welcome applications from people who are Black, Asian, or from other racialised and ethnically marginalised communities, as well as disabled people, who are currently under represented in our workforce. We are committed to removing barriers in our recruitment processes and ensuring fair access to opportunities.
