Are you a passionate and experienced SEND Teacher looking for a rewarding opportunity where you can make a real difference?
We are currently seeking a dedicated Year 5 SEND Teacher to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Druid's Heath, starting ASAP on an ongoing basis.
The Year 5 class has a high level of additional needs and requires a second teacher to provide targeted, specialist support. There is already an experienced class teacher leading the class, so your role will be specifically focused on supporting pupils with additional needs and ensuring they are able to access learning and thrive in the classroom.
The pupils have a range of additional needs, including:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- ADHD
- Challenging behaviour
- Learning difficulties and additional learning needs
- Social, emotional and communication needs
You will work closely alongside the existing class teacher and wider school team to provide personalised support to pupils with SEND.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils to access the Year 5 curriculum
- Adapting and differentiating learning where required
- Providing targeted 1:1 and small-group support
- Supporting pupils with ASD and ADHD
- Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour
- Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Promoting inclusion, independence and confidence
- Working collaboratively with the class teacher and SEND team
The school is looking for a teacher who is:
- Experienced and confident working with SEND pupils
- Knowledgeable about ASD and ADHD
- Confident managing challenging behaviour
- Patient, calm and consistent
- Nurturing and supportive
- Able to build strong relationships with children
- Flexible and adaptable in their approach
- Passionate about supporting children with additional needs
This is a fantastic opportunity for a SEND Teacher who wants to work in a mainstream setting while having a specific focus on supporting pupils with additional needs.
The position is available to start ASAP and is ongoing, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a long-term role within a supportive school environment.
Placements are subject to appropriate Child Protection screening, including checks with former employers and the Disclosure and Barring Checks.
