Position: Year 4 Classroom Teacher

Location: Southampton

Start Date: ASAP / Autumn 2026

Contract Type: Full-Time Fixed-Term

Pay Rate: £168 - £232 per day

About the Role

Supply Desk is seeking aYear 4 Classroom Teacher to join a successful and forward-thinking primary school in Southampton.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate teacher who enjoys bringing learning to life and creating an engaging classroom environment where children feel confident, motivated and able to achieve their potential.

You will take responsibility for a Year 4 class, delivering high-quality lessons while meeting the diverse needs of pupils within the classroom. The school offers a friendly and supportive environment, with a strong focus on professional development, coaching and staff wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging and purposeful lessons for a Year 4 class
  • Create an exciting and stimulating learning environment
  • Set high expectations for achievement, behaviour and personal development
  • Adapt teaching and learning to meet the diverse needs of pupils
  • Assess, monitor and track pupil progress effectively
  • Use assessment information to inform future planning and teaching
  • Build positive and respectful relationships with pupils
  • Encourage children to become confident, independent and enthusiastic learners
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the wider school community
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach when working with pupils, parents and colleagues
Candidate Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching within a primary school setting
  • Experience teaching Key Stage 2, particularly Year 4, is desirable
  • Passion for teaching and learning
  • High expectations of children's achievement and behaviour
  • Ability to inspire, motivate and engage pupils
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt teaching to meet a range of learning needs
  • Positive, enthusiastic and hardworking approach
  • Commitment to working collaboratively as part of a school team
  • Willingness to engage with coaching and professional development
  • Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one
