Yard Marshall - Banksman

An opportunity is available for a Yard Marshall / Banksman based in Didcot. This role is ideal for a motivated and reliable individual looking to join a busy waste management site. You will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the yard, maintaining high safety standards and supporting overall site performance.

Job Responsibilities

• Monitor and direct all incoming and outgoing vehicle movements within the yard
• Inspect and assess incoming waste to ensure compliance with site permits
• Guide site users to the correct tipping and unloading areas
• Ensure all staff and visitors adhere to site rules and report any breaches
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organisation across the yard
• Report accidents and incidents in line with company procedures, supporting investigations where required
• Work closely with site management to support smooth and efficient operations

Candidate Specification

• Previous experience within waste management, recycling, or metals industries
• Good working knowledge of plant machinery and site operations
• Strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental standards
• Ability to identify areas for improvement and proactively resolve issues
• Willingness to support team members and take on additional responsibilities when needed
• Experience operating a weighbridge is advantageous

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong understanding of goods vehicles and site traffic management
• Banksman training (essential)
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong organisational abilities
