Contract Type: Permanent Hours: 37 hours per week Salary: Circa £51,000 per annum About the role We are looking for a Governance & Assurance Lead to join our Wastewater directorate at Southern Water. You will work closely with the Wastewater Governance & Assurance Manager to deliver strong first line assurance across regulatory reporting and operational performance.This role plays a key part in ensuring our wastewater activities meet regulatory requirements. You will support accurate reporting, effective governance, and continuous improvement to help reduce compliance failures and pollution incidents. What you will be responsible for: Providing first line assurance across Wastewater regulatory reporting and performance data Supporting regulatory engagement, including Environment Agency alignment review meetings Analysing and reconciling wastewater data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance Producing clear performance information, including pollution forecasting and analysis Identifying data issues, recommending improvements, and supporting corrective action Working closely with wastewater operational teams to resolve complex issues Contributing to the reduction of wastewater compliance failures and pollution incidents Additional requirements specific to the role: Occasional engagement with regulators and internal stakeholders across the business. What you'll bring to the role: Essential Knowledge or understanding of wastewater operations and environmental risks Experience working with regulatory or performance data Strong analytical skills with attention to detail Ability to produce clear, accurate technical reports Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office tools Confidence communicating with stakeholders at all levels Desirable Experience supporting regulatory submissions or compliance reporting Understanding of wastewater reporting requirements such as spills, flooding, or pollution About Southern Water Southern Water is at the forefront of transforming Britain's water industry.
