Job overview An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Workforce Planning & Deployment team within University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (UHSx) as a Workforce Planning & Deployment Specialist. You will be a key role within the workforce planning function and be responsible for providing high quality reporting, analysis and presentation of complex medical and non-medical workforce deployment information.
You will utilise a variety of rostering and HR systems providing an integrated approach to workforce planning and deployment. Reporting will include data relating to attendance, rostering performance, job planning, roster fill rate and other HR related metrics.
Main duties of the job • Responsible for supporting the medical & non-medical rostering & deployment teams by creating a suite of reports & dashboards for operational & clinical leaders, divisions & corporate teams
• Provide data & statistical analysis relating to the management & deployment of our medical & non-medical workforce
• Produce regular & ad hoc reports as required from a range of HR systems
• Analysing & interpreting highly complex shift & working patterns at individual, ward & organisation level to support the development of rostering processes & practice
• In conjunction with others lead the development & embedding of KPIs relating to workforce deployment & effective workforce management
• Provide specific reports for internal and external audits and support the implementation of recommendations
• Present highly complex data to a range of audiences using graphs & charts
• Interpret & present complex data, making judgements about assumptions/data definitions & making recommendations to senior managers
• Support the medical & non-medical rostering & deployment teams in contributing to the delivery of Trust strategies, action plans, & specific projects
• Support formulating plans for delivery, which will often involve complex relationships & alignment between projects & programmes of work including responding flexibly & making appropriate adjustments based on changing circumstances
• Judging when to manage issues within own scope/autonomy & when to escalate

Person specification Experience / Qualifications
- In-depth specialist knowledge of data manipulation, statistics and critical analysis acquired through an undergraduate degree or equivalent gained through qualifications and relevant experience
- In-depth, specialist knowledge of data (including data extraction, validation, manipulation, analysis and interpretation) in an NHS context.
- Good general awareness of current NHS policy and priorities.
- Strong track record in stakeholder engagement and good communication of complex issues to different audiences
- Experience of developing/delivering staff training in own areas of expertise
- Experience of project management
- Experience of conference presentations
- Understanding of workforce metrics and KPI's.
- Experience of using ESR
- Expertise in communicating (verbal and in writing) to 'lay' audiences
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team. In particular to form and maintain collaborative relationships with peers across the Trust
- Significant experience of working with workforce or organisational data
- Able to demonstrable insight and innovation in producing business intelligence and management information
