Waste Site Supervisor

Organisation: Leicestershire County Council

Work Location: Usually based from Bardon Waste Transfer Station, Coalville RHWS or Shepshed RHWS. Travel to other waste sites in the County will be required, mileage can be claimed in accordance with policy.

Salary: £29,550 - £32,055 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) - The position is subject to a non-contractual retention payment after successful completion of probationary period of £125 per month, subject to eligibility criteria.

Working Hours:37 hours per week - Annualised averaging37 hours per week (averaging 41.5 hours per week through the summer, and 32.5 hours per week through the winter)

Week 1: Saturday to Friday (7 days)

Week 2: Monday to Wednesday (3 days).

Start times usually from 8am and finish times of up to 18:00.

About the Role

You will be working with a friendly team with a good balance of indoor and outdoor working.

As a key member of the team, you will support the delivery of a high-quality Recycling and Household Waste Site and Waste Transfer Station Service. You will work closely with your line manager to supervise operational staff and daily operations on waste sites, maintaining equipment and resources to agreed levels.

You will be required to be computer literate and familiar with MS Office or equivalent.

In addition, there may be opportunities to become a qualified HGV driver with CPC.

About You

To apply for this post, you must:

• Hold a GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English OR Hold a BTEC National, NVQ3 or equivalent Level 3 qualification.
• WAMITAB CoTC Level 4 or above (or willing to work towards as necessary) and Level 3 Award in Fist Aid at Work - First Response or equivalent (or willing to work towards as necessary).
• Hold, or be willing to work towards as necessary, Loading Shovel / Telehandler tickets and Forklift Truck licence.
• Experience in staff training and development, a customer facing role, using MS Office packages, supervision of operational staff, waste operations and working in accordance with Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality Management Systems in the Waste Management Industry.
• Knowledge of waste disposal and treatment legislation, with a good understanding of Health & Safety on site and waste site operations and environmental compliance.
• Ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English, communicate effectively with colleagues and customers with an understanding of customer needs and deliver high performance.
