Main duties of the job On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for managing and co-ordinating the care of the patients, the role combines line management for the nurses within your delegated team and ensure mechanisms and processes are in place and maintained.

You will also act as a source of specialist and expert nursing knowledge and provide support and advice to the wider team.

Providing adult community services for St Helens and a wheelchair service in Chorley, South Ribble, and West Lancashire. Our inpatient unit at Newton Community Hospital is where patients needing acute hospital beds can continue rehabilitation. We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.

Specialist Regional Services

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

Person specification Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse Diploma / degree level or equivalent experience
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Leadership training or qualification (minimum Level 3 ILM or equivalent) or working towards
Knowledge and Experience
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of NMC professional standards for practice contained within the code
  • Experience of leading a team in a clinical environment
  • Research awareness and commitment to evidence-based practice
  • Experience of clinical risk assessment & management of identified risk
  • Understanding key features of Clinical governance
  • Knowledge of audit & audit procedures
