Voice AI Engineer/Belgium based/550 Euros per day

Excellent long term freelance opportunity for a Voice Engineer to join a leading client based in Brussels.

Contract duration: 12 months +

Hybrid working: 50% onsite presence required

Daily rate: 550 Euros

Applicants must be EU nationals, living in Belgium

• As part of a team of AI Development Engineers and Data Scientists, you will contribute to building a client-facing Voice Bot capable of directly answering customer queries.
• The solution leverages a hybrid speech stack combining open-source models (ASR, TTS, VAD) to deliver best-in-class Real Time performance.
• You'll join a strong AI engineering community, focusing on production-ready ML pipelines and scalable AI service deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Voice Engineering
• Design and implement Real Time streaming pipelines (audio ingest, VAD, STT, LLM orchestration, TTS)
• Manage conversational flow (barge-in, interruptions, endpointing, silence handling)
• Optimize latency vs accuracy trade-offs
• Implement reliability strategies (fallbacks, retries, rate limiting, backpressure)

AI Engineering Contributions

• Collaborate with Data Scientists to design production-ready solutions
• Develop and automate ML pipelines (CI/CD, testing, deployment)
• Support integration into industrial environments
• Monitor model performance and ensure continuous improvement

Required Skills & Experience

• 4+ years of engineering experience (incl. 2+ years in streaming speech solutions)
• Strong programming skills (Python + Go, Rust, or C++)
• Hands-on experience with Real Time STT/TTS systems
• Familiarity with ASR/TTS frameworks (eg, Whisper, NeMo, wav2vec2)
• Experience with streaming audio processing
• Ability to evaluate systems (latency, WER, conversation KPIs)
• Experience integrating open-source and vendor APIs
