VMware Engineer - VMware Cloud Foundation Implementation Specialist (SC clearance required)

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled VMware Engineer for our high profile public sector Client on a contract basis. The Engineer specialist will support the deployment and optimisation of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) within the CNI Platform, a secure, airgapped infrastructure. They will lead VCF implementation with a focus on integration with Cisco ACI and Pure Storage. There is an expectation that the incumbent is able to work out of hours as agreed from time to time.

Key Responsibilities

• VCF Deployment: Configure and deploy VMware Cloud Foundation components including SDDC Manager and vSphere within the CNI Platform.
• Infrastructure Integration: Integrate VMware stack with Cisco UCSX Server platform, Cisco ACI networking fabric and Pure Storage systems, ensuring compatibility and performance.
• Automation & Lifecycle Management: Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerCLI, Ansible, or Terraform for provisioning and updates in an airgapped setup.
• Security & Compliance: Leverage Cisco ACI's security capabilities-including policy-based segmentation and traffic control-to enforce strict access controls and compliance within the airgapped environment.
• Performance Optimisation: Monitor and fine-tune virtual infrastructure for reliability and efficiency.
• Documentation & Handover: Produce detailed implementation documentation and support knowledge transfer to internal teams.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise with platform engineering, networking, and storage teams to ensure alignment with project goals.

Required Skills

• Proven experience working in secure or airgapped environments.
• Strong knowledge of VMware Cloud Foundation suite, ideally with some experience of VCF 9
• Experience with Cisco UCSx hardware incl Intersight
• Experience with physical installation and configuration of hardware in datacenters
• Experience integrating with Cisco ACI and Pure Storage.
• Familiarity with automation tools (PowerCLI, Ansible, Terraform).
• VMware certifications (VCP-DCV, VCAP, or equivalent) preferred.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
