Overview

What Car? has been Britain's leading source of car buying advice for more than 50 years, and is now looking for a video production manager to join its editorial team.

The successful candidate will report to the reviews editor and play a crucial role in running the What Car? YouTube channel, from planning shoots, delegating projects, managing the video production team and, most importantly, shooting and editing our video output for YouTube.

Responsibilities
  • Managing the video production team of one videographer and numerous short-form collaborators on the wider reviews team
  • Shooting and editing car reviews and features, taking the lead producer role on multi-day shoots with large crews.
  • Managing the YouTube channel, scheduling community posts, YT Shorts and long-form content
  • Acting as the point of contact for video production enquiries (both internal and external)
Skills / Experience / Knowledge / Minimum Criteria
  • Being direct and clear with instructions is key
  • Forward planning and the ability to meet tight deadlines - as a channel we aim to produce up to three long-form videos per week
  • Experience of managing production schedules and people. Time management and deep understanding of video projection is a must
  • You will strive for the highest possible production quality in all of your work (whether shooting city cars or supercars), and be able to demonstrate this with previous experience.
  • Encyclopaedic knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, along with fluency in using professional camera and audio equipment.
  • A great eye for detail, especially when working with graphics and numbers, and be comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

A full UK driving licence is required for this role
