Job Overview
To manage and develop a team focused on delivering efficient services to meet well-defined deliverables, whilst ensuring budget management, cost effectiveness and supporting maximum financial reward . This role operates under the direction of a manager.
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Venue Manager to oversee the daily operations of our client's exciting, gallery, museum and event space in Poole. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the different spaces and galleries and occasional events, maintaining high standards of guest service, and leading a dedicated team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage a vibrant venue, foster excellent visitor relationships and contribute to memorable experiences for our guests. The ideal applicant will possess strong management skills, a background in visitor/venue management, and a passion for delivering exceptional visitor services.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of operations, including historical site, galleries, setup and execution.
- Act as a technical reference and escalation point for the team, resolving operational and non-standard issues and providing advice and guidance on processes and procedures so that staff are supported in their roles and issues are resolved appropriately.
- Lead and motivate a team of staff to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
- Manage logistics to optimise venue utilisation.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and organisation within the venue.
- Handle guest enquiries and resolve any issues promptly and professionally.
- Develop and implement operational procedures to improve efficiency and service quality.
- Liaise with vendors, suppliers, and contractors as needed for event requirements.
- Ensure H&S is monitored and managed.
- Manage a small budget to ensure appropriate resources are available to run the team or work area.
Skills
- Proven management experience within a historic/cultural space.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on delivering exceptional visitor experience.
- Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of health & safety regulations relevant to venue management.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and problem-solve efficiently. This role is ideal for a proactive individual passionate about delivering memorable experiences in a vibrant setting while demonstrating strong leadership capabilities.
