Vehicle Management Service Lead

12 Month Contract

500-600 p/d inside IR35

We are seeking a skilled and adaptable interim professional to lead the setup of a new centralised fleet and travel function. This position will be key to establishing the service, ensuring it meets operational demands, and supporting long-term sustainability and carbon reduction objectives.

Key priorities will include:

• Overseeing the creation and rollout of the new service, delivering workstreams covering staffing, facilities, systems, policies, communications, infrastructure, vehicle replacement, grey fleet, and service innovation.
• Providing clear leadership to the core team.
• Designing and embedding fleet policies and operational frameworks.
• Managing budgets and contributing to strategic planning.
• Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the service delivers value and meets operational needs.
• Representing the organisation at industry events to share best practice and explore innovative approaches.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience establishing or significantly reshaping a fleet function within the public sector.
• Brings proven project and programme management skills, with a record of delivering change in complex environments.
• Understands fleet operations, including compliance, sustainability, and cost optimisation.
• Can influence behaviours and encourage adoption of new processes across diverse teams.
• Has a genuine interest in innovation and environmental improvements within fleet services.
