Validation Lead Band 5, 30 hours per week, Diagnostic and Clinical Support Collaborative.
This post sits within the Diagnostic and Clinical Support Collaborative, supporting a range of services to deliver NHS Constitutional Standards for Diagnostic waiting times.
The post holder will be required to:
- Lead on detailed validation of inpatient and outpatient pathways, adhering to NHS Constitutional Standards for Diagnostic waiting times.
- Provide an efficient and effective service to a multidisciplinary team. Actively manage administrative processes and coordinate care associated with patient pathways, including validation, bookings and solving queries that arise.
- Ensure access and quality targets are met, identifying potential delays and addressing these with the relevant stakeholders.
- Provide patients with a primary point of contact between the multidisciplinary team and their colleagues, patients, relatives and GPs, providing relevant information and assisting with queries.
The role of the Validation Lead is to act independently in the management of patient pathways and hold ownership and responsibility for the operational management team to ensure that all patient pathways relating to diagnostics for patients are accurate, up to date, and validated according to the local and national policies. The post holder will be responsible for detailed patient level validation of patient pathways by working closely with Deputy General Managers and Deputy Service Managers, Service Manager, Consultants, Radiographers/Sonographers and administrative teams. The role will support the Trust to manage its critical access targets relating to diagnostic standards.
The post holder will be responsible for addressing performance issues which require corrective action to avoid unnecessary delays in patient care.
The post holder will be required to act as a key contact for Trust booking teams, acting as a source of specialist knowledge relating to diagnostic waiting times and supporting processes for continuous improvement of data recording.
The post holder will also be expected to produce regular progress reports on the Collaborative's overall performance to support the operational management team to monitor and improve.

Qualifications- Educated to degree level of equivalent relevant experience
- NVQ Level 4 in Business Administration, Customer Service, Healthcare Support Services or equivalent qualification
- ECDL Qualification or equivalent
- Evidence of either formal or on the job RTT training
- Experience of working in a business administration environment, with demonstrable evidence of problem solving and resolving issues as they arise (acquired through experience and/or training to Vocational level 4 or equivalent).
- Experience of working within multi-disciplinary staff groups
- Recent office employment, including software application, data manipulation and analysis
- Experience of working in a customer facing environment, resolving queries and using initiative to ensure first class service delivery
- A proven track record in developing and implementing service improvement in the NHS
- Knowledge of the full range of administrative procedures required for this role, acquired through training or previous experience
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge of RTT and Cancer targets.
- Statistical analysis methodology
- Understanding of the requirements of the Data Protection Act, Access to Health Records and defensible documentation, Freedom of Information Act, Health and Safety and their application in the workplace
- Medical Terminology
- Knowledge of local Trust systems
- Ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with a wide range of patients, in situations where there may be barriers to understanding (e.g. language difficulties, anxious or distressed patients or relatives).
- Ability to produce and present clear and coherent reports
- Ability to motivate staff, generate enthusiasm and remove barriers to change
- Ability to adapt to ad hoc work requests whilst balancing long and short term work with urgent requests
- Ability to speak confidently to senior staff in a challenging environment
- Ability to make decisions in a constantly changing environment using judgement and problem solving skills to deal with queries and meet deadlines
- Advanced keyboard skills, and competent use of IT
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly in MS Excel
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to use initiative appropriately within a team environment
- Ability to deal with sensitive information with tact, diplomacy and understanding.
