Offer Overview

Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within the UCD School of Mathematics and Statistics. The position is a 4 month role supporting the bioinformatic and statistical analysis of proteomic, phosphoproteomic and related multi omics datasets. The post holder will develop robust, reproducible analytical workflows that generate biologically meaningful insights from complex time course experiments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform bioinformatic analysis of proteomic and phosphoproteomic datasets.
  • Integrate proteomic data with complementary transcriptomic and other omics data.
  • Access, curate and data mine publicly available repositories such as PRIDE.
  • Collaborate closely with research team members to interpret findings, refine analytical approaches and ensure outputs are scientifically rigorous and well documented.
Qualifications and Experience
  • PhD in Statistics or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills in R and Python.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and data visualisation techniques.
  • Experience working with longitudinal time course data sets.
  • Familiarity with multi omics data integration approaches.
  • Ability to clearly document methods and create user friendly workflows.
  • Evidence of research activity (publications, conference presentations, awards) and a demonstrated commitment to future scholarly output.
  • Excellent communication, oral, written and presentation skills.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion agenda.
  • Experience with public biological data repositories (e.g., PRIDE) and proteomics/phosphoproteomics data analysis.
  • Experience in setting own research agenda.
Eligibility Criteria

Early stage researchers who have just completed a PhD or are entering a new research area for the first time are eligible. Applicants who have already completed a PD1 stage or whose total post doctoral experience, including this advertised post, would exceed four years should not apply and are advised to refer to PD2 posts instead.
