Job overviewBuckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust have a great opportunity for a Trust Speciality Registrar (ST3-8) equivalent to join its very busy Emergency Medicine based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.
The post is for an initial Fixed Term Contract of 12 months, with the potential of an extension. This post is available from October 2025.
The post holder will be required to support the junior Resident team of the Emergency Medicine Hub, therefore, prior NHS A&E experience is preferred for this role.
All applicants MUST hold a FULL GMC registration with a Licence to Practice in the UK.

Main duties of the jobThe post holder will work in all areas of the Emergency Department.
Typical duties may include:
- Resuscitation and initial management of emergency cases in a team.
- Management of other patients presenting to the ED.
- Admission of patients to inpatient teams for further management.
- Being confident in and MUST be able to work independently at Middle Grade Level.
- Supporting Junior Resident Doctors within the Emergency Department.
Clinical Audit and Clinical Governance
- Participate in clinical audit across the department in line with Trust policy and guidelines.
- Implement audit and research findings across the department.
- Comply with the Trust clinical governance processes in a timely manner.
We are expanding the number of Resident Doctors within the department and also working towards making a new attractive rota inbuilt with time to pursue any special interests / audit. There are opportunities to be involved in research projects, learn point of care ultrasound skills and to be involved in organising different courses.

Person specification Experience- 12 months paid experience in Emergency Medicine
- Paid NHS experience working at IMT3 or ST3 level
- 18 months experience in Emergency Medicine is desirable
- Familiar with working practices in the UK
- IELTS level 7 or above completed if required
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Well organised
- Willing to take on responsibility
- Good general health, physically able to carry out the duties of the post
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to work independently to the grade of ST3+ in Emergency Medicine
- FULL GMC Registration with the Licence to practice in the UK
- MRCP
- MRCEM or other equivalent emergency Medicine Qualification
- ATLS Certificate within 3 months of starting post
- Critical care assessment skills
- Other certifications ie. APLS, Level 1 Ultrasound sign off
- Communicates openly, honestly and professionally, and actively promotes team working and building strong working relationships
- Patients are always first. Drives service improvements. Strong self-awareness with a desire to grow.
