This is a 12 month fixed term contract.
We're offering an exciting full-time opportunity for a motivated and ambitious doctor to join our Clinical Haematology team as a Trust Doctor (ST3-8). This role is ideal for individuals looking to develop their skills and experience in Haematology within a supportive and forward-thinking department.

You will work alongside experienced consultants and multidisciplinary colleagues, gaining hands on experience across a broad range of haematology services.

Main duties of the jobWhile working within the Haematology Unit, you will be fully supported by close Consultant supervision, in line with the updated 2021 Haematology training curriculum. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop broad, hands on experience across the specialty.
You will have the chance to rotate through a variety of key areas, including:
- Inpatient Ward: Managing and reviewing patients with a wide spectrum of haematological conditions.
- Day Unit: Supporting patients receiving treatments such as chemotherapy and infusions.
- Hospital Liaison: Providing timely advice to other teams across the Trust, helping ensure safe and effective patient care.
- Laboratory Work: Gaining valuable experience reviewing blood films and bone marrow slides alongside laboratory colleagues.
- Outpatient Clinics: Participating in the assessment and ongoing care of patients in consultant led clinics.
You will also have the opportunity to develop specialist procedural skills, including:
- Bone marrow biopsy
- Lumbar puncture

About usThe Trust operates from the Royal United Hospital (RUH) which is situated about 1 miles from Bath city centre.
The Trust provides 732 beds and a comprehensive range of acute services including medicine and surgery, services for women and children, accident and emergency services, and diagnostic and clinical support services.
The Trust employs around 5,100 staff, some of whom also provide outpatient, diagnostic and some day case surgery services at local community hospitals in Bath & North East Somerset, Somerset and Wiltshire. This fulfils part of the Trust's aim to provide high quality care to people in their local communities.
The hospital provides healthcare to the population served by four Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs); Bath and North East Somerset CCG, Wiltshire CCG, and Somerset CCG (Mendip Federations), as well as one social enterprise, Sirona Health & Care CIC.

Person Specification Experience- Minimum 3 years NHS Experience
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Complete 12 months experience at F1 & F2 level (or equivalent outside UK) prior to commencing this post
- ALS, APLS and/or ATLS
- MRCP Part 1 & 2
- Experience in Haematology at ST1/2 level (or equivalent outside UK)
- Experience working as part of a MDT
- Knowledge of own limitations
- Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on range of problems both emergency and elective within speciality
- Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
- Able to work without direct supervision where appropriate
- Able to prioritise clinical need
- Able to maximise safety and minimise risk
