Trust Doctor (eqv. to FY1 level) in Gastroenterology

Fixed Term Contract - 4 months

Applicants are invited for the opportunity to join the medical team within the Gastroenerology Department at Whipps Cross University Hospital which is part of Barts Health NHS Trust.

We are seeking to appoint a Trust Doctors (FY1 equivalent level) to join the friendly department, based in an associate teaching hospital which is dedicated to teaching and training.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking to appoint a Trust Doctors (FY1 equivalent level) to join the friendly department, based in an associate teaching hospital which is dedicated to teaching and training.

The vacant Gastro post will cover a training gap in service specifically for the period from 01 April 2026 for 4 months until 04 August 2026 and will be considered for an extension if other vacancies subsequently become available.

Current full GMC registration is essential and availability to commence working in the month of April is a requirement.

The successful candidate will be working alongside the Gastroenterology team to provide clinical care to patients whilst also using the post as a learning forum to maintain good medical practice, and to strive towards maintaining ones own personal development through learning, teaching and managerial opportunities.

Person Specification Qualifications and Knowledge
  • MB ChB or equivalent
  • Full GMC Registration
Experience
  • Familiarity with the UK NHS structure
  • Enthusiasm and ability to work under pressure
  • Caring attitude to patients
Personal Attributes
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Able to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to quality care
  • Involvement in clinical audit
  • Ability to organize own CPD
  • Enthusiasm in teaching medical students and nurses.
Specific Requirements
  • The post holder will be required to work shifts, on call, flexible hours
