Trust Doctor - ST3 Equivalent - Obstetrics & Gynaecology

Applications are invited for a Fixed Term Trust Doctor ST3 equivalent in Gynaecology based at St. Richards Hospital from May 2025 - October 2025 only.
Full-time role with a fixed on-call pattern covering labour ward and emergency gynaecology.
Suitable for those at ST3 level or above, including Junior or Senior Middle grade, as well as trainees seeking an OOP year with some experience in gynaecological ultrasonography. The role commences in May 2025.
Includes opportunity for funded postgraduate diploma PGCert (medical ultrasound).
Main duties of the jobObjectives of the post:
- Work on labour ward, ward work, attend clinics, theatres, and cover gynaecology emergency and early pregnancy clinics as part of daily duties. A registrar (second tier) is present on call 24 hours, with a consultant available for 65 hours a week and on call from home.

Job responsibilitiesApplicants must have experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and ideally have chosen it as their preferred career. You should be committed to team-based patient care, interested in developing personal, clinical, and special interest skills, and capable of managing projects independently and under supervision. Regular supervision meetings with an experienced training Consultant will help you meet your objectives and shape your future career.

Person Specification Qualifications- Full GMC registration with a license to practice
- MRCOG part 1
- Advanced Life Support certification from the Resuscitation Council UK
- Additional related qualifications (e.g., intercalated degree, BSc, BA, BMedSci) if applicable
- Completion of the RCOG Basic Practical Skills course in Obstetrics and Gynaecology by the time of appointment. No equivalent qualifications accepted.
- Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies from a UKFPO-affiliated Foundation Programme or equivalent by appointment, in line with GMC standards. At least 24 months' experience in medicine or an ACCS programme, excluding Foundation modules.
- At least 24 months' experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (excluding Foundation modules) by appointment.
- Must not have previously relinquished or been removed from an Obstetrics and Gynaecology programme, except under exceptional circumstances.
- Experience in related specialties and completion of formal obstetric skills/drills training (e.g., ALSO, PROMPT) by appointment.
- Relevant extracurricular activities or achievements in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
- Experience working in multi-professional teams.
- Understanding of NHS operations, clinical governance, and resource constraints.
- Evidence of interest and commitment to teaching and participation in audit.
- Broader experience outside the specialty, managerial skills, recognized teaching qualification, research experience, awards, and publications.
